It's nice to have a forum full of cheerleaders, I think
That's part of the reason I decided to go for Inktober as well.

The shaded relief on the last one is fantastic.

Thanks Greg, glad you like it!
    Go for it!
It's easier to start with a small defined space to fill, I found... otherwise it can get out of hand quickly. If you go for pencil and paper, what I did was scribble the outline, softly fill it with a lighter pencil, pick in some shadows and then touch some slopes with an eraser for higher contrast.

I'll get back to it, don't worry. ;P

    Thank you Daniel!
    ...

Here's a different angle on a pencil shaded map...

Had some trouble keeping things in perspective from the left side to the right, with the differing terrain and the way the rivers and valleys flow, but not so bad.
I started jotting some names for labels and all but not sure how I want to finish it... might digitally drop it onto a toned paper and add highlights and/or color, idk.

Wow, once again, I'm really impressed by your work, Chashio . The waterfall sketch, the city and now those splendid mountains! Splendid work!

Here's a style/technique I've been messing with lately. It's sort of a digital collage of mostly hand made elements brought into one document in ps and put together with layers and some use of the clone stamp tool. The region depicted includes some of the summer lands, winter lands, and the unshriven lands (which no one has ever mapped) to the north/top of the page.

    web TheUnshrivenLands KaitlinGray.jpg

The parchment background was drawn with pencil and scanned.
The mountains (watercolor or something) were on a separate sheet from an old sketchbook which I scanned recently... the original bit was most of that upper left chunk and the rest I clone stamped from that.
The forests were clone stamped from individual trees (liquid graphite) from another sketchbook.
The city and village icons were from another old sketchbook, just scribbled pencil scanned and clone stamped around.
The water (rivers and lakes, etc) is just digital on a multiply layer, as are the roads and labels.

    Oooooh, that is nice
I love all the variation in the trees.
And all the little cities are actually different.
This is a really splendid piece Chashio.

I still want more of that city though [squints at Chashio]

Edit - Triple drats. Must spread rep here too. Grrrrrr
