Default Oct / Nov '17 Lite Challenge: New Summerset

Just watched Blade Runner 2049 and is in a dystopian mood.. so that will be the story of this map.

I am of course not taking any basis in the real world.

It is year 3 after the flood, 2053 in the old reckoning. Most of the landmasses on the planet has been swept away by the melting poles leaving only places with enough height back for people to live on. The remaining countries have been moving closer and closer as the attempts to hold back the water has failed repeatedly. New Summerset is one of these holdouts the island holding many times as many people as is should and even with vertical gardens it is hard to feed everybody, thus the rule on the island is harsh and unforgiving.

For now I've just made a base to work from - so color scheme is still to be determined

You can't do that one. That my island.

Nice backstory. Can not wait to see where it goes.

I think Straf is also using this island, but reversed left to right... unless its reversed left to right here?

    Nice start, Tilt

Welcome aboard Tilt! Looking forward to seeing how this progresses. (note: see my original post, if you want to use a different scale it is OK)

So, I've changed the scale to 10 times smaller so my Island is about 24 km long.. making for more cramped living and still mapable within the confines of my time available seeing that I'm going to Spiel Essen in less than a week and then on holiday with the kids.. oh and joining NaNoWriMo of course

I've messed around with the colors.. still not satisfied, but going for something darker more .. blade runner/fifth element/fireflyish in theme.. not that I think I hit just that, but something that would fit in those universes

Thanks Bogie, it will probably change some more, but I like the idea of a metal frame to fit the distopian future of the map

I like the clean simpleness of it. And I love the dark red! That border looks really cool too... like recycled metal mesh.
Like a thief in the night
    she comes with no form
    yet tranquility proceeds
    the accursed storm...
