Uh thanks for the appreciation guys! I don't remember who asked me (I'm really dumb at managing reputation panel, always forget where it is and how to answer sorry) but yes, probably in a near future I will do also the colored version, I'm thinking about setting it on sunset rather than midday.. or maybe in the fog.. will see!

Thanks Thomas, originally I planned to do even the shadow in black, with some little strokes, but the result was messy and I decided a simpler approach

Thanks Chashio! The request was to focus on few different type of buildings for the skyscrapers, some miscellaneous middle buildings, and the two leaders towers.

Thank you very much Wired! Actually drawing so many skyscrapers in "perspective" was very tricky at beginning, I had to figure out how to express depth whitout messing around. The grey shadows addition helped a lot.

The only thing I'm kind of iffy on are the clouds - if you hadn't said what it was I would've assumed it was a huge forest. Maybe show a tear in the clouds in a couple spots to show faint underlying terrain? But that's a minor nitpick and dang, I love this map!
Thank you Diamond! About my technique: Actually I don't like the perspective, I had no guide lines and I messed up in few places
About the clouds: The client asked specifically for a "forest" effect like in my other map "Laakas bog", but obviously in black and white is hard to make difference. Originally the skyscrapers had to rise directly from clouds.

Thanks Blaidd! I tried to make thinner strokes, but I just can't lol, I guess it's my style

And the lineart gives it a really cool and effective cartoony look.

One thing I'm wondering about: if it's all clouds beneath those mountains, how did they build that bridge?

Thanks Wingshaw! I had the same feeling, but the client was happy with that and I will probably do a colored version About the bridge: Convicted robots.. I mean, I don't know I just suppose that somewhere down is ground, and this future civilization had the technology to build such taller things, plus I wanted to look it like "Golden Gate brige on top of the sky"

Oh that colour request (one of them at least) was me!

No pressure - not demanding - only curious to see

Fantasic work Tom! I love the thick linework and subtle shading. And the cities are great to look at. Only comment would be that at first I thought the cities were build about a thick jungle instead of clouds. Other than that it's really looking great.

Love your beautifully clear lines. I like the monochrome palette, but really interested to see the colour version too. It's a great map!
