Really nice style. Very aesthetic and overall pleasing to eye. I actually like the snowy trees, but i would like to see a bit more cluster of trees that would represent a thick forest.

I was commissioned to do this about twenty days ago, I think it turned out rather well and am currently working on a regional map for a smaller area in this world. He does not have a name for the world yet, but the title is a layer style so he can change it quite easily - I also tried to keep as much room for icon descriptions, general info, or anything in the large area around the title, hopefully it works out for him.
The biggest thing I don't like about it are the snowy trees, I couldn't find a better way to pull them off without spending too much time detailing.

I'll also post the other maps of the commission when i'm done with them.
Edit: I posted this in Town/City mapping on accident, and I don't quite remember how to delete a thread. Can one of the CL please move it to world / regional mapping?

I know.. drawing every single tree is very time consuming, that is why i don't usually go for this kind of forest representation on maps. I lately tried doing clusters and some individual trees around. I think it look good, but i will leave the judgemnt to the people here when i post the map

The colors and art are beautiful - very Blando-ish. I'd be interested to know how you did the swirls in the ocean; that looks gorgeous.
Very nice indeed
My personal taste finds the little cloud symbols a bit unnecessary, but that might be what the client wants

Nice map! and I second Diamond's curiosity in the swirls... it's a nice effect.
Working in photoshop, if you have a few different trees at a finished level flattened onto one transparent layer, with the trees themselves opaque (pixels directly behind the trees filled 100%), you can clone stamp the trees into other areas of that layer and build them up into clusters pretty quickly. Also works with mountains... city icons... etc. GIMP allows the use of opaque, colored brushes but ps doesn't and that was annoying, so I fiddled until I found a decent workaround. Might help some.
I'm not entirely sure about the clouds either, although I do like that they help the rainforest seem more.. Rainy.
@Chasio & Diamond
I'm a huge fan of Jared Blando, and if you see some influence from him, that is exactly why. As for the swirls, it's just a four lined brush drawn with swirly patterns and then a overlay blending mode. I find that it is pretty neat for this sort of thing, although In the future I would only do it around the coasts, as the whole thing takes much too long.
Thank you guys for your kind comments
The sea swirls are absolutely awesome! I also love the interesting textures for the deserts. Really awesome work!
