Thanks everyone for the nice comments. I did some more tweaking, added texture to the water and grass, along with some other minor changes. I could go on with little tweaks forever of course, I just keep thinking I should do something more drastic to the trees and detail in the trail map. We'll see I guess.

This maybe my last WIP on this challenge. I fixed a few things and added labels on the contours. I really do like drawing in Sketchbook Pro but I am definitely seeing it's limitations for this type of art. I started working on the January challenge, haven't started a thread yet though, in Adobe Illustrator. I am seeing a lot of advantages, and still some limitations. It's fun to push the drawing packages to see how far they can go. Maybe Photoshop will be next.

This is really nice! I wish that tower were in my back yard!

I've always wondered what the differences were between Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. I was under the impression that most artists that use photoshop could do everything they needed in just photoshop but recently I've been reading about how the tend to use both, but no one has ever said why.

Photoshop, Sketchbook and other similar programs are pixel based. You have the set resolution at the beginning and scaling up makes it blurry and scaling down throws away data. Illustrator and other similar programs are vector based. Everything is shapes and lines so the final resolution can be determined at output. This is a simplification but generally true.

Thanks Bogie. It turned out better than I feared it would, though there are a few things I'd probably do different. I'm very happy with it.

And as far as the Illustrator/Photoshop discussion, that's from the main January challenge where I'm doing a map in Illustrator, this one is in Sketchbook Pro. It's definetly a different work flow.
