This is awesome, both the map and the story behind it. I'd love to see it coloured too. Maybe you should go back next year...

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

I love the idea of others putting their skills to work on my image, but perhaps this can also inspire a few of my fellow cartographers to share their skills in this impromptu way. I'd really like to see pictures and maps like this shown on the walls of hostels, restaurants, you name it...

Some of you may remember this map that I created for a backpacker's hostel in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, last year. It was a fantastic commission to receive, as I know that my work is on display on the walls of an actual building, and it is seen by travellers and backpackers from all over the world.

I have an update to the story now: Hernan, the hostel owner, found someone to colour the picture, and he sent me a picture, showing what it looks like now. I don't know who coloured it, and - I'll be honest - the colours chosen came as a bit of a surprise to me, but I have to say I like it. What does everyone else think?

I was a little surprised by the brownish coloring on the outside, but I think it works really well, especially on the left hand side with the balloon in the clouds with the sun behind.

It's beautiful!!! I love the colors. It may not be what you envisioned, but it is quite pleasing to the eye. At least mine.

It looks kind of unsettling.... with those brown dark clouds... it seems like the world is about to end... LOL

I think the colors turned out nicely, different, but nice. I think its something that is quite unique and will stand out.
