Question Turning a map drawn on paper into a digital version.

    Hey guys,

Me and my friends are going to start playing DnD regularly soon and for that reason I've decided to make a fully fledged map of my continent.
The only problem is that I made it on paper, and have no clue how to transfer it to a usable file to use online. Am I forced to make a new map on pc,
Are can I transfer the scanned paper version in some way?

    Thanks in advance!

    Seminas

    Hi Seminas and welcome

You can scan your map and use the Jpg file as basis.

In any raster program (photoshop, gimp or krita but my infos apply directly to photoshop) you can use that JPG as a top layer with the blending mode set to multiply (the dark parts appear but the white doesn't appear, showing what's underneath) and you use layers below to color and shade your map.

That's good advice Thomas gave you, Seminas

I'll just confirm that the same is true of GIMP and Krita - they also have multiply modes you can use to get rid of the white parts of your scanned map
