New to Inkscape labelling

Any quick tutorials out there? I've messed around with the text tool and for now I have no idea how anything works. I need to know how to curve text, add glow, effects...

Youtube has tons of tutorials on Inkscape. I think videos is the way to go when learning it. Whenever I want to figure out how to do something with inkscape that is where I head.

To make text on a curve you need two objects, a line (bezier curve usually) and the text object. Then you use the object selection tool (Arrow in the top left corner) select the text, then shift select the curve, then go to the text menu at the top of the page and scroll down and hit "put text on path". And viola it's done. You can still edit the text and change the curve (with the node edit tool which is directly under the object selection tool) with no problems.
