Very interesting and rich teaching to see you work on maps that are not fantastic world ... Result: your maps are fantastic anyway ! They give just that kind of fantasy to these real countries! Beautiful work!

Beyond beautiful, and certainly better than I might find in a National Geographic publication. A definite inspiration to future GWN!

    My apologies - I spaced.
This week is just getting away from me.

I love the colours, the delicate tracery of the line work, and most of all - the way you have fit that gorgeous little lion cameo into the outline of Africa.

    Excellent illustration!
    Thanks MOuse
I can't claim the logo though. Sorry.
I made it looks a bit better, but the concept wasn't mine.

I would love to visit those parks.

Well, I can't rep you yet, but those are FANTASTIC, J. It's really interesting to see just how much of each country is dedicated to preserves; I didn't realize it was quite that much.
    Hehe Thanks Diamond
It really is. Much of Africa has been dedicated to national parks and game reserves and such.
And even for all that, they still deal with tons of poachers. Tons.

I love how you manage to keep your maps simple (as in not too busy) and very compelling to look at at the same time!
EDIT: I can't rep you now so I'll come back later
    Thanks Filippo
It isn't always easy to do. And I don't always succeed.
    But I do try.

Yea your right, these countries does give the impression that they are doing a lot to preserve nature.
    Thanks Azelor.
They really are doing a lot. Especially considering that they have a lot less resources and such to help manage them and also to account for the loss of the land to commercial use.
They do get a decent amount in eco-tourism though, so hopefully it balances out.

I have some other real world maps I've done.
It's fun to add a touch of the fantastic to them.

Wonderful! I'm particularly envious of how you handled colours on this. The subtle green gradient, browns and the blues of the water... everything work perfectly together.
