I'm assuming that the castle figure also includes castles located in towns (or vise versa), or fortified towns, so if you had a town with a castle they'd really only be one place, just with two features?

Ok. Between Cub Scouts, spending time with my wife, working on the text for a One Page Dungeon Entry in collaboration with Daniel, proof-reading a mates setting supplement and work. If I can find some time in all that to make a decent map, I'll have a crack at this.

Yes, I believe most towns would have a castle nearby. Especially in a feudal setting were the power is fragmented.
If it is not a feudal society, towns are less likely to have their own castle.

So I was really excited on seeing this, because it just so happens I've been spending a great deal of time making a map of a fantasy realm, and well, two birds with one stone as it were. That said, I was working from specifications provided by another party (and the other party wasn't Donjon), so I'm going to bow out of this one.

Just a minor thing, but I wanted to mention that it looks like (at least from what I'm seeing) the scraper for the thumbnails isn't picking up any thread names or usernames that include non-ASCII characters (Azélor's name and at least one map name aren't showing up in the challenge thumbnails view - the maps are but not the names in question).
