Map Pool of Secrets (facebook cc3+ challenge)

This is a map I made for the Unofficial CC3+ map makers group on facebook. The concept was 'secrets behind the house'. We were given a very loose drawing, to inspire us to make maps!

Well, this is what I came up with. This is the hidden entrance to a secret cave only. I do plan to finish the cave in a different map, because I intend to use this map in my next up and coming 5th ed game.

So without further adieu, Pool of Secrets

Looks good, but the unturned floor texture stands out strangely. I know how to turn a textured object in FM8, but it may be that it's not possible in CC3+ (which I have but don't use). If not, there isn't much you can do about it.

    Hey Mark

I actually agree with you... but it was the one I liked the best out of the textures I looked at. I wanted something rustic, since this sorceress is out in the forest by herself, but I didn't want a wood floor, because I don't think she would bother with one. At the same time, she's a little beyond an earthen floor...

so what I settled on, was a type of cobblestone foundation type floor. It probably isn't the best... but it's as close as I could come with what I had.

Oh, I think you missed my point. The cobblestone texture is just fine. It's just that the lines of the cobblestones don't follow the lines of the house. As I mentioned, it may not be possible to rotate an object filled with a texture in CC3+. I don't know. I know how to do it in FM8, but if it can be done in CC3+, someone else will have to tell you how. Here are two quick-and-dirty samples (made with FM8, not CC3+):

Sample 1, as in your map:

Sample 2, with the texture rotated to follow the wall lines:

For general information (as I believe Storm may already know this):

The method in CC3+ is to use the "Shaded Polygon (angle by edge)" tool, which is visible in the drop down list if you right click the draw polygon tool.

Use the tool to click the edge you want the fill to align with.

This will cause the texture to align with the picked edge, but it will also assume you are trying to build some kind of roof structure, so it will also have shaded it according to whatever the default or last used setting of the roof pitch just happens to be. This is not a problem, however, since getting rid of it is just as easy.

To get rid of the roof shading, just type EDITSHADING in the command line, pick the polygon again, and tick the "Shade Only Copy" option in the dialog that appears - the one ringed in red below. Ignore the rest of the controls in that dialog, and click ok.

Here is one I did for you in CC3, using one of the Bogie's Mapping Collection fills for the flagstones

Doh! Mark, Mouse, I can't believe I missed that!!! Mark, thanks for catching it, I didn't even notice that! But you're right... that's probably why it seemed off to me, I just couldn't put my finger on what I didn't like about it. It also explains why the fill didn't bother me on the hut, but did on the shed. I looked at it for almost an hour, and finally just shrugged it off.

Well, it's too late to fix it for the challenge, but I can go back and fix it in the map itself, I hope

And here I thought that it was one of those labor-intensive bias layout tile patterns that my wife loves so very much. I had to make so very many, many, tile cuts... On the plus side, though, it did nicely mask the non-square walls.
