    Map Moss-Fort

Once again, long time no see!

Lately i dabble a bit with watercolours and it is so much fun! I have a nice Schmincke Aquarell set lying around for years now but never really tried my hands at it...
So i wanted to share my first traditionally coloured map with you. It was inspired by Meshon's lovely Pinecone Hold, one of my favourite hand drawn village maps last year, and could be one of the lesser known outposts in the fabled Mouse Territories using the mossy rocks and treeroots as natural fortification against the everlurking predators...

There is a long road ahead of me with so many things to learn about watercolours. I was able to apply some bits of my knowledge from digital colouring, although working with an actual brush, paint and water is quite an adventure compared to my usual workflow with gimp... but as Meshon often says, the fun of working with traditional tools is exactly that you have no "ctrl+z"! Any tips, critique and suggestions are more than welcome.
    Hope you enjoy!

    Cheers,
    AL

A very fine map ! Regarding the colors, I'd say it's a success!
And that a very big flower (even for a mouse)!

I've always been a fan of the top-down style, beautifully done! I like how you stayed in lines for some things and out of them for others, gives it a certain feel which only adds character to the over all piece.

Thanks a lot Ilanthar! Glad you like the colors... and yes it's a huge flower, i'm not too experienced with mouse-scale yet

Many thanks Adfor, i'm glad you like the map. Regarding the "staying in/out the lines" i can assure you it was not on purpose First, i was rather happy how well it works to keep "in line" with the brushes (even with the bigger ones) but since sometimes one need to put many layers on top of each other, with each layer the chances rise drastically to cross the line eventually...

That's really great, Abu! I love the little 'hill' fortifications.

And good to see you here again.

Wow ! For a first water colored map, it's a big success ! Congratulations, the colors are really beautiful, and you gave a kind of "shadowy" ambiance that tells a story about this map !
