June 2018 Challenge: There's something in the woods...

A bit of a late starter this month, however I have decided to limit myself to 1000 x 1000 pixels, so it should be doable...........

No names as of yet, and not much backstory apart from the following rough outline:

The inhabitants of this little village fled from a tyrannical ruler many centuries ago, and found a small inlet on an uninhabited coast where they decided to settle. The fishing was good, the ground was fertile, and there was plentiful timber from the abundant forest. Despite this, some had families back where they had fled from, and were inclined towards journeying back there to get them. This caused much disquiet among the remaining settlers, and an attempt was made to make it impossible for those who wished to return to do so.

It was only after they burnt their boats that they realised that there was something in the forests...

After a massive wall-building exercise, the security of the village was finally assured...

Really sorry guys, but due to too much going on in my life at the moment, I am going to have to withdraw from this month's challenge.
