Hehe, yes, I have been hearing that and I don't disagree.
Client choice. I tried to add some ways that you could slip through on foot.
I assume their story had reasons for this layout.

I like that idea. Maybe at some point I'll do an overlay with rooftop bridges. That's be cool.

The temple is great, as is your way to do the domes.

It was a fun challenge with the spirals.

It's not always easy to fill out an image when you're dealing with a square or circle format but a rectangular page.

Amazing John! I love how this is not just a town map, but also goes to show the surroundings and a sideview of the temple. Great work!

I'm sure the design (pencilwork) took you about two and a half hour casually watching Mad Max or some John Ford classic but I was wondering how long took the coloring ?

Your works keep getting better with fewer strokes each time. I'm amazed !

I'm slowly learning to be more efficient and possibly more elegant in my designs.
    It's a slow crawl.

The pencil work was just the parts that I used from the sketch [top and temple on right].
The rest was all done in photoshop and sadly took longer than 2.5 hours.
Here's some sketch and in-progress shots

I'll be honest - I don't really recall exactly how long the color took.
I feel like it went somewhat fast.. less than 8 hours? maybe?
But I am not certain. It might have been 2 sessions over two days.
I just don't really recall. I'm terrible about keeping time logs for these things.
I really should. I used to. I'm just not into tracking things like that, even though it's useful and helpful.

I can say that the digital linework is often the most time consuming part.
Linework done in pencil is super fast though. Odd how that works.

It's insane how your "sketches" are already gorgeous...

This drawing is part of what led me to join this forum. I saw it on Deviantart and was blown away. The composition is really what makes it stand out so well.

Wait, you mean to say that you turned this from sketch to digital linework in 2.5 hours?! I'd need at least two full workdays to draw something of this scale, but probably more! :O

But thanks for sharing these sketches, nice to get a peak at your workflow (:

Amazing. What’s the font you used for the main title?

They don't always look so "good". When I need to show a client, I try to make them a bit better.

No, not that fast. I wish I had. I am not sure how long, but definitely longer than 2.5 hours.
I'd say the digital line work took me 4-6 hours. Part of that is due to the layout/design time.
That always adds time to plan out the building shapes and locations.

Thanks Farland. I believe the font is Windlass.
