    Hmmm...
    Growing up, we put up the lines and took them down every time.
    One time I crossed the lines.
    Wash got wrapped around the other line.
    I seem to remember wash getting knocked off as well...
    My mother suggested that I pay more attention to how I put up the lines.

    I suppose mine are taught enough that they don't get tangled. One runs from a hook on my back house wall next to the door to a post in the back garden. The other runs from a hook on the opposite side to an ash tree across from the post. So I get mainly a triangle with the lines crossing at the first quarter-third. Close to the house I have some big rose bushes which I can't have the line cross see.

    Never really had much trouble with it. So when I did my fort washing lines I never really considered it. True it is probably more practical to hang them parallel but whatever.

    The next Lite Challenge clearly needs to involve washing line layouts. =P

    Well hanging them diagonally give you a longer run of line, hence more drying room.
