Lys - Map of Mémoria

Hello all,

I finished the first map of my fantasy world under construction, Lys.
This A3 watercolored map presents the Mémoria island. I let you read below a bit of history.

L'univers fantasy de Lys est le miroir de l'esprit d'Elise, une femme de 70 ans de notre monde. Et sur Lys, l'île de Mémoria représente ce que fut la jeunesse d'Elise. Les histoires racontent qu’à la genèse de Lys, Mémoria ne faisait qu’un avec le Continent. Mais depuis, lentement, elle s’en éloigne, spatialement, mais également dans les esprits. De moins en moins de Lysiens connaissent l’existence de Mémoria, et ils sont encore moins nombreux à ressentir l’envie d’aller la fouler de leurs pas.

Les Mémoriens, les Lysiens qui habitent Mémoria, sont grands et fins, et ils rayonnent d’une grande noblesse. Leur regard brille d’un esprit subtil mais aussi d’une profonde mélancolie. Ils ne guerroient plus depuis longtemps, et s’aventurent peu à l’extérieur de leurs contrées. Leur Roi, Morghan, trône à Val d’Or, mais n’interfère quasiment jamais dans la vie de ses sujets. C’est juste s’il communique encore un peu avec le seigneur de Valeria.

Dia l’immortelle, la première Guide dit-on et la Reine de Vie-monde, le Royaume du Centre sur le Continent, s’est retirée depuis plusieurs dizaines d’années sur la Montagne Oubliée de Mémoria. De là, elle entend contrôler la Corruption et ses hordes de Créatures, un mal nouveau qui pourrit et fend les sols et fait se désespérer les cœurs. Bientôt Mémoria ne sera plus que désolation. Dia sent en elle une force qu’elle n’avait pas ressentie depuis longtemps et compte bien en jouir.

L'histoire commence dans le Village du Cristal.

La carte de Mémoria présente les terres déjà corrompues et celles qui sont encore saines. La carte elle-même est fendue en son centre. J’ai utilisé volontairement une projection différente entre le nord et le sud de la carte, que j’ai essayé de mettre en valeur avec la bordure oblique.

The fantasy world of Lys is the mirror of the spirit of Elise, a 70 year old woman of our world. And on Lys, the island of Memoria represents what was the youth of Elise. The stories tell that at the genesis of Lys, Memoria was one with the Continent. But since then, it has been moving away from it, spatially, but also in people's minds. Fewer and fewer Lysiens know about the existence of Memoria, and even fewer of them want to go walking there.

The Memorians, the Lysians who live in Memoria, are tall and thin, and they give off a great nobility. Their eyes shine with a subtle mind but also a deep melancholy. They had not warred for a long time, and came out of their country little. Their King, Morghan, sits at Golden Valley, but almost never interferes in the lives of his subjects. It's just if he still communicates a little with the lord of Valeria.

Dia the immortal, the first Guide, we say, and the Queen of Life-World, the Central Kingdom on the Continent, has been withdrawing for several decades on the Forgotten Mountain of Memoria. From there, she intends to control the Corruption and its hordes of Creatures, a new evil that rots and breaks the ground and makes hearts despair. Soon Memoria will be nothing but desolation. Dia feels in her a strength she had not felt for a long time and intends to enjoy.

The story begins in the Village of the Crystal.

The Map of Memoria shows the already corrupted lands and those that are still healthy. The map itself is slit at its center. I voluntarily used a different projection between the north and the south of the map, that I tried to highlight with the oblique border.

Unfortunately I have to switch to English as my French is atrocious. I, too, love the canyons. The watercolors look fantastic; the corrupted area is wonderfully colored in contrast to the verdant green of the pristine lands.
