Thread: Using BITMAP as guide

    Post Using BITMAP as guide

I have a bitmap image of a map that I want to "convert" into a CC3 map.

Is there a way that I can show the original bitmap map as a kind of "background" image that I can use as a guide to drawing the CC3 map.

I thought that I could import the image as a fill image, then create a new sheet especially for the guide and draw a poly on that new sheet with a fill of the image, but it appears to try and tile the image and does so badly. Is there something else I can use instead of fill to do this?

    Regards,

    Shane

    Hi.
First determine size of image (e.g., 200 x 100 pixels)
Use the Draw menu, Insert File. Pick your picture.
You can embed it and treat it like any other object (makes map file size large) or not and leave it as a reference (smaller map file size).

You'll be asked to pick your starting point and end point (asked for coordinates on the command line).
I usually go with 0,0 for first coordinate and then use the image size for the second coordinate (e.g., my 200x100 image would be entered as 200,100) If that is too large/small you can undo and retry.
