What kind of grid paper + sheet paper combo would be suitable for handdrawing ?

Above comment is pretty much perfect, once you have a light under it it's very easy to see

I might also suggest printing some heavier lined grids - incompetech is a site that lets you put in variables to make your own graph paper. once its sufficiently thick and black and gets much easier to see under the paper, even without a grid

Thank you, I will definitely try that. My current grid paper is blue and quite soft, so that might just do the trick.
