    Default The Howling Hound

Another map done for my Patreon: the ever cozy tavern and inn called The Howling Hound. I had a lot of fun drawing this one, and it was also the first time drawing a building and not making the layout up on the fly (though a couple last minute changes were made )

As always with my Patreon maps, here's some background for those interested:

The Howling Hound is about as old as Hofendal itself. Aside from the church, it was the main place for people to meet each other. It was named after the owner's dog, who was known it town as the 'howling hound'. The dog turned out to be cursed, and when one day it attacked a patron, they turned into a werewolf. This was the beginning of an old werewolf plague. By now, most everyone has forgotten about it.

In the Howling Hound you'll find a good bunch of people any time during the day. When evening falls, the tavern quickly fills with people, and it's generally crowded until well after midnight.

On a second floor the Howling Hound provides a couple of rooms, ranging from simple, cheap rooms that offer a bed and not much else, to more luxurious rooms with fine furniture and even a fireplace.

After the War in the West, many of the 'Homeless Lords', that lost their possessions in The Swamps to the bandit-kings, have rented rooms in the various inns of Hofendal. In the Howling Hound two lords and their guards have settled until they can reclaim their possessions. The rest of their men are often seen hanging around the tavern and are known for causing problems over old feuds. The lords themselves aren't helping either, as they have an old matters that neither considers settled.

A sense of hostility fills the tavern whenever these lords and their men are present. Some of the men have even been seen scheming at the private tables.

It won't be long until someone makes a first move, and after that, things might get very bad, very quickly...

I absolutely adore this! I want to go visit it! the little details are awesome, like the map illustrations lying around and all the bread and beer (yummy), as well as the obvious card game going on. I love so much about this!

Clean and well done, as always. I'm especially fond of how you cluttered the tables. Even tiny maps here and there ^^

Lovely map Daniel! I'm spending some time just admiring the detail you put into this. The maps on the table are an awesome little addition.
The whole piece reminds me of the Prancing Pony from the Lord of the Rings.
    Very inspirational, thanks for posting!

What a comfy looking inn. Looks like someone is having a party! I would absolutely start a D&D campaign here.
