    Map Ostbayern - hand draw

    Greetings!

I'm showing you my new map - hand drawn with coloured pencils, using also soft and dry pastels, markers, ink and a bit of acrylic paints.
The map shows my hiking route through East Bavaria in September 2016.

The map is finished, but - as usual - I am not completely satisfied. I could still improve a lot of elements, so I would be very grateful for all your comments, ideas and criticism.

It's hard for me to be strict and demanding about this map, because I really, really love the way it looks! But I'll give it a try anyway.

One thing I don't like about the map is the garish red border around it. But that's an easy one to solve, right?

Another thing you might consider—and this is a suggestion rather than a point of critique—is to shade in the larger terrain a little bit. For now your map looks rather flat, with only the hills sticking out of it, but with a soft shading of the background you could suggest plateaus on either side of your rivers, which would help the viewer get a feel for the terrain. Like I said, this is by no means a must, but it might be fun to experiment with for a bit.

Other than that, I can only repeat I really love your maps. They're wonderful, dreamy works of art—you should definitely be proud of them!

Eeee! I'm such a big fan of hand drawn anything, and wow does your style catch the eye! I love that each city has different characteristics.

The only thing I would critique is that the lines for some of the cities are not straight, but it looks great either way, that's probably the OCD talking.

I really appreciate you sharing this, stellar work!

Your maps never fail to amaze me!
But you requested some criticism, so here it is: The plains could use some details as some areas feel a bit empty.
