Hello all,

i just want to tell you a few things about me, My name is Chris and I'm 32 years old. During a coaching I discovered hat I'm really interested in maps (mostly Fantasy). Well I always was, even as a child I was drawing maps or editing maps in video games later on. I just never thought about it as a "real" passion but the longer I was thinking about what I really like I realised its maps. I want to start drawing my own maps and I'm thankful for any recomendation regarding online tools for map creating. I also like to make up stories and plots for map based stories and I like to play RPG's and strategic video games.

I'm looking forward to a wonderful time with cartography.

Hi Chris! Glad to see you've found your way over here. I can't say I know anything about online tools for mapmaking, as my personal tool of choice is Photoshop, but take a look through the tutorial secion of the Guild forums if you haven't already - you're bound to find some ideas for mapmaking tools over there.

I have a list I maintain of all the free online fantasy map generators I could find. As for other programs, I have been using Other World Mapper adn find it quite good and a worthy addition to my flow.
