Sept/Oct '19 Lite Challenge: Tuaui

When this challenge started, I was getting on a plane to Hawai'i, so naturally I spent the flight working on outlines and colors. I'm doing some shading now, and I have some other effects planned for lighting on the rivers and lava:

Hi jshoer. I like it so far. The green color is too vibrant for my liking, but the shading gives it a nice, sculpted feel.

Also, does anyone else see candy corn?

While I'm at it, the next big thing I'm thinking about it how to add some place labels, paths, sea routes, and whatever. Should I go for a more symbolic, schematic style (circles for villages, dotted lines for paths, digital text for labels) - or should I do a more rough, sketch style with lots of hand-drawn symbols and labels? I'm trying to think which would go better with the underlying image style.
