I agree with you on that The former one will find its place, I have tons of compass concepts.

Here comes a likely last update before the labels. I've added lot's of shadows and highlights on top of the discreet colors. Terrain shading was applied with lots of freedom and I think it's the way to make that part fun (I feel like my two year old when she enthusiastically paints ... the walls ).

    Here comes !!

    Thanks a lot Marc

The client approved the whole map (besides a little darkening of the rivers). I'm now waiting for a title and the labels to finish it

Awh ! Your colours add a really nice flavor to this map.
It's interesting to see the different steps, and the evolution, in particular between black and white map and the coloured one

Great work, i'm waiting to see the rest of it fully coloured !

goodness, you really did go through a few compass iterations! .. I remember seeing some of these along the way, I did not realise they were all the same map !

Yeah, sometimes you gotta change something you like because the client likes something else more. Nothing is lost though as I'll most definitely use all the iterations at some point (got a lot of started compass rose on my HD).

I found it easier to differentiate land from sea in your earlier maps... don't know if you changed something, but with such a complex coastline, maybe it's useful to change background colour of land vs sea more.
    otherwise loving it. looking great!
