I found an interesting screenshot, I'm putting it here – the names of the characters also fascinated me. Your map's whole mood and scale brings me back to my childhood and I felt like sharing that – sorry for the off topic, I thought it was important because your map really talks to me in a way you could not have imagined.
Honestly, thank you for sharing. I get that with music, it's funny how a song can take on a meaning solely based on what was going on in your life during the time you first heard it. I Googled Claude Ponti and he has some great world building going on, I'll see if there's anything I can take from his work to add to my map

Thanks Styscape, I'm enjoying the learning curve of a much more illustrated approach. Colouring it may be a nightmare with so much detail however. I guess I'll try and keep the shading simple.

I would be making heavy use of masking fluid if I tried doing this traditionally and colored. The inks look nice on their own though.

Gosh I wouldn't know where to start by colouring this traditionally lol. Here we go, inking basically finished.

Man, I almost read that as Nickleback.

Looks like this is gonna be a fun one.

Here is the colouring so far. After really liking my line art, I've had to drage it kicking and screaming into colour, with it fighting me every step of the way lol. Only now do the colours seem to be gelling together. Not much texture added yet either.

Another update, nearly finished colouring and added some textures. Though I still want to try a few different textures and ways of blending them. Close to finished.

Another update, near enough finished now I think maybe I should have considered composition more in the beginning rather than just winging it but I've had a breakthrough in working with colour palettes and using a Gamut Mask to keep the colours working together. So this challenge was more than worthwhile and great fun to do.
