    Map Vastania [Commission]

    Hi everyone!

It's been a (great) while since I've been active here. I've been working on a commissionned map for a dear friend of mine for a few months, and I'm finally finished! So I present to you Vastania. It's a fantasy world created for a DnD campaign, based on a germanic lore.

Gotta say I've worked so hard on that filigree! .O.

Fantastic map! I love the bold typography and the grungy paper. Great work!

Hey Mimine, the amount of work you put into this is really showing off! It looks spectacular overall and i love the way you managed to place so many differently categorized labels on it and keep the map readable in the end. Also as a german, i had a lot of fun reading these place names!

Wow thanks a lot Abu! I used an atlas as a reference and different german prefix/suffix sources to come up with the names. I hope it sounds ok!

The vast majority sounds really convincing. Superbe work on that! It's more about the french german mixture (e.g. Duché de Lanstein, obviously since it's made for your french speaking friends) making me read it to myself with the lovely french -e behind the -heim suffix (common in village names in Alsace and southwest Germany) ... "Venzingheim-e" ... the sound of it just brings back some memories

Lovely style! I enjoy the forest and mountains a lot here, and the subtle relief effect on the coastlines looks really nice. While I do like the design of the border, I feel the linewidth on that is maybe a little conflicting with the otherwise really fine lineart of the map itself. Not a huge issue, and as I said the overall design is solid.

Nice map all in all. Welcome back!
