Hi Sithra, and welcome. Nice map! I've never seriously used Inkarnate, but it produces some really pretty maps.
Looking forward to seeing more of your work. Don't hesitate to dive in if you have questions.
Hi folks.
I spent a lot of time as a teenager doing AD&D then 3rd Edition D&D with my friends. We'd take turns DMing, and always set our campaigns in our custom home brew world. Typically any new adventure would start either in a 100% new area, or filling in details in some area a party had just passed through before. I really got into this world building stuff, but was limited by being unable to draw to save my life. So they tended to be very rough scrawls on graph paper, with just enough to give a sense of where a forest, mountain, river, etc. might be.
Well about a year ago I realized as a late 30s adult working in science and research, I had a suspiciously lacking social life. So I started getting together an online group for D&D 5th edition. After getting a good group together, I jumped in for my turn at DMing (and made the move to Pathfinder 2nd Ed in the process). Since things would be digital and I suck horribly at drawing but am good with computers, I checked around and ended up picking up Inkarnate...and immediately fell in love with the world building aspects all over again!
Initially figured I'd do a quick region map to give a general sense of setting, and expected to do something rough over at most an hour. By the time I had 20ish hours put into my region map continually adding in more detail and making more interesting areas, I was very hooked. (It's mostly done now in that we're using it actively for a campaign that is being played weekly - but also a work in progress in that I'm constantly finding small things to fix or adding new details as I give more details to each area the party travels through). It's been a blast to feel like I'm suddenly able to actually get things from my imagination into something tangible to share, and my players seem to like it.
I've showed off my maps proudly to a few folk who have told me they are very good, which is great, but I'm typically more interested in building skills than my self-esteem. Towards that end when someone recommended this place and I realized it's a place to learn from folks way better than me, I definitely had to jump on board!

Hi.
I just joined up, as an art appreciating member of this guild. It's good to see new members with artistic talents, in addition to those of us who can only appreciate art.
