Need help about improving a world real-like map

Hi all! Best artists are here!
I need an help about making better a huge 2d real-like world map started by me for a campaign on my favourite RTS game.
It's sample and without terrain decorations (only zone names). I need map details comparing it to satellite views.
Eliomap derives from an equivalent cylindrical map of Lambert; Europe and America are nearer than reality, Europe 10 % bigger than real size.
The software is Adobe Photoshop CS considering 8 big parts as *.psd files (resolution is 72 dpi) and their shadings.
Text font till now is Bookman Old Style (capslock, bold, 18pt).

by huge what do you mean
i work with some VERY large maps ( in the 10 to 25 Gib range)
with pixel dimensions like 65536 x 32768 px or even bigger 131072 x 65536 px

Real size is 18944 pixels width x 7296 pixels height

It seems there are more artists fond of software maps here instead of handmade maps.

There are several people here who do handmade maps, including one I know of who sells maps and mails the original too, but your pitch definitely makes it sound like you want a digital map. Usually people who want a handmade map would refer to it in inches rather than pixels. Do you want a handmade traditional art map?
