    Default Hello Cartographers!

Hello everyone! I'm Sarah (Illustrated Page Book Design) and I mostly do book covers... but I've always loved fantasy maps and want to get more into cartography. I'm excited to be joining the guild and hope to learn more about the techniques and styles of map making. Also to try and figure out what the industry standards are for pricing! Right now I'm at $180 for a black and white, 6 by 9 inch map and $250 for a colored 6 by 9 inch map.

Here are my latest and best maps. I'm thinking I should try a map of a building for my next portfolio piece? I'm considering doing a wizard's mansion. I also think I need to do some more black and white line art maps of continents.

I want to keep improving, but I hope you like these!

Love the artwork samples. Are you illustrating freehand, using brushes in a digital bitmap program... ?? Any info on your process is appreciated. And welcome!

Coming back to this super late (I need to change my notification settings!), but I made it in Adobe Photoshop and drew with a Wacom tablet. For the landscape map, I did use some brushes as the basis for the mountains, but everything else is freehand.
