Thank you for this invaluable advice
You're most welcome! Glad if it helps.
And by what I see, you're definitely on good tracks.

Thank you very much Thom. The relief was indeed quite a challenge. Apart from that... well I did not invent anything new here really in terms of style.

    Thank you very much.

So the map itself is done I think. I may tweak some elevation or river later if I spot some errors, but overall it is finished.
Now I am working on iconography. typography, inset map, title etc.

Cannot find a good way to make the label for highest elevation easily legible on dark mountains background.
Is it just me or all of the below look bad?

The only way to make it better is to make font bigger, but I do not want to do that.
    Any ideas?

I tend to use the middle one on my elzevir atlas (so black with a very thin white halo). I think the font is very important here, it has to be legible at small size and over almost everything.

Thank you, Julien. I was leaning toward that one too. I have to experiment more with fonts.

Thanks for the enlargement and the details. It makes it easier to study your line and better understand your process. It's fascinating and always makes me want to try and imitate you, because the result is so much to my taste.

That's a lovely piece - and I love the way you draw your trees and mountains.
