Thanks Will, I'm excited about getting this one done. The approach of tracing was a little more involved, but it has definitely given the result I was aiming for.

My most notable issue currently is that the paper size is A4, and the scanner is just a smidge too small for it, alas.

I can certainly imagine that the smaller than A4 sized scanner would be a real pain. My current scanner comfortably fits an A4 sheet which is quite nice, it would be really nice to be able to do A3 though, I might have to upgrade at some point. I imagine you could pick up one cheap second-hand. My current scanner was the cheapest printer scanner on the market when I bought it (about 5 years ago I think). The printer hasn't worked in a long time but the scanner is great, especially on my new linux PC.

It was on sale and sated all my needs in one, so I'm happy. I'd been wanting one for about 5 years.

My arm needed a break so I figured I'd throw this up unpainted so you can see a bit more of the unfinished pen work.

I've begun the lighting/shadowing/sharpening phase, which you can see in XV & XVI, and some of the surrounding hallways. It's been fun to include the lighting with watercolors, I'm very much enjoying the addition of pencil shading to contrast it.

Also, the tiling is finished, I'm relieved to find that the pattern is subdued by the sharpening process. Debating on if I want to add stippling to the negative space.
