    Map

I made another video, which I previously posted on discord servers. I enjoyed having fun with it. Maybe one day I will have enough time to master classical drawing and will be able to do something more informative about the history of the world.

That is absolutely outstanding Harrg! Your attention to detail and realism is top notch. Was this done in GPlates? I never knew the program was capable of animating actual topographic maps as opposed to mere solid continent shapes.

    Very inspiring!

Thanks a lot. Yes, this is gplates. You just need to import the raster. In the raster settings, select the hemometry you need and it will crop the raster

In version 2.5.0 we added the ability to draw beautiful triangles on subduction zones and customize which direction they face. But this requires working with the topology.

I plan to add (it seems for sure now) the last sub-continent in the southern polus. I will need to slightly adjust the global tectonics and after that I can confidently say that the model of world tectonics is complete. And I can clarify the remaining details.
I started vectorizing the coastlines, because it's easier to draw current, wind and other "technical" maps in vector graphics.
There are still some tricky tectonics issues that I haven't solved. I also don't like my elevation map of the central Tanat mountain range. I feel like it needs more love and detail from me.
But I'll be able to work on those details when the overall tectonics model is finished.

I continue to play with the polar regions and refine the tectonics. This is a sketch for now, I still have to run it all through gplates, but so far I’m happy with the result
I still have to deal with my Pacific Ocean. And for this you will have to go back to the previous cycle of the super continent and its collapse.
This will also allow me to check the validity of the current tectonic model. Alas, if 10 or 15 years ago I knew what this would entail, I would have started the process with ancient Pangea and repeated the path that is described in the Worldbuilding pasta. But then it never occurred to me that I would want to go beyond the boundaries of the original landmass and get into more detailed modeling.
Over and over again my gaze catches on the Tanat (Tibetan mountains) and something about them irritates me. Most likely, as my previous experience has shown, I am breaking the rules of tectonics in this region. Sometimes this happens to me, let’s say the mountains turn out to be on the other side of the subducting plate or the island arc is concave in the wrong direction. Or there is subduction, but on the other hand I forgot about the passive ocarina, etc.
Gradually I correct these mistakes and more complex, but at the same time meaningful, contours begin to appear.
