And Map #2 is now done(ish). Like the 1st one, I may come back and tweak things. Glad these two are out of the way though, because the 3rd one is going to take probably all of December, what with the holidays fast approaching.

Hi Diamon, high praise from me, your card looks really good and I especially like the vintage style. Thematically it's just as exciting and so I'm excited to see what else awaits us. Go on like that, one would like to say
Blimey that's a fantastic font your using there. Where might one get a copy of that ? Is it something that the usual font websites have on hand. Also, I agree with Randig, the card texture is very effective.
Thank you guys, I appreciate the love!
RedRobes: The font is called Caerphilly, found here: https://www.dafont.com/search.php?q=caerphilly
edit: Hope to have the next stage up tomorrow or even tonight; this week has been suuuuper busy.
Your work is truly admirable: limitless imagination and breathtaking speed of execution (without sacrificing quality).
I love your idea, which is so reminiscent of the maps in historical atlases (especially on the birth, expansion and fall of the Roman Empire), but because it's in your style, it's full of dreams and fantasy, and it transports us.
I can't wait to see the last one! I hope you'll have time!
I love maps showing historical change and this one is very beautiful to look at and easy to read. Keep up the work, I'm looking forward to the post-imperial era. Now I'm going to compare the first two maps to see how cities grew or were founded anew.
Little thought: It seems you varied the color of the city symbols in between first and second map. I think it'd be helpful if same colors would always correlate to the same city-level throughout the maps so that size-comparison stays easy.![]()
@ Jo: thank you so much. Hope I don't let you down!
@ Eld: I did think about keeping the key the same across the board, and I still might do that, the problem being the populations have grown so much and there are so many cities, that it makes little sense to show towns on the 2nd two maps. But I'll think about it, maybe I can figure out a way to make it work.
Here's what I have done so far on the 3rd map. There are still MANY labels to add; fortunately I don't have to think of completely new ones for most of them. This is kind of confusing to look at right now I think, but once I add some color and the key, it should become clearer.

The story is clear and we understand completely what happened... a very nice chapter to add to the big book entitled ‘sic transit gloria mundi’!
A small update with some color and a few more place names.
