GREAT idea! I love to see stuff like this that's outside-the-box thinking.
Hi everybody,
I have been reading "Un día de cólera", from Arturo Pérez Reverte and this book relates multiple stories from May 2nd of 1808, when the people of Madrid took conscience of the French Napoleonic invasion of Spain and rebelled, initiating what we call the Independence War (from France, because they had invaded... Yeah, I don't think the name of the war makes much sense either). With the book comes a HUGE map of Madrid in 1808, and helps give some spatial and tactical context for the stories of the book.
That map has inspired me a bit, because, while it's from the period I like to draw fortifications from, it's also a non fortified city, with no street planning.
So, when I saw the shape, I thought: "Hey, this could be such a city...".
So I've printed the shape and taken pen and ruler, and now I'm painting what will be the city of Rudik (Thanks to perchance.org for the word generator).
I may develop the lore a bit on future posts, but I can't promise it.
Here are some streets drawn. It will be whatever gets out.

Hi 4maram, even if I haven't understood the basic idea 100% yet, it's a new and exciting idea, so I'm excited to see what comes out of it.
Okay, so this I think is the first phase ended. I have taken the lines/initial_roads the image suggests and now I was going to fill the spaces with more streets, limiting myself at some spots to ent the city there (top and right, or in this image right and bottom, straight, isolated, long lines).

Here's another update.
The external wall path is already defined, as well as some outgoing roads. The places where there are points are city gates. There are also some neighborhoods as well as factories (that pentagon in the center top), and some places for palaces with extensive gardens: irregular hexagon on the top left and an irregular cuadrilater near the center bottom. Ignore the shape that resembles a bastioned castle, it's probably nothing, yet.

At this step, I should just print another paper to clearly define which of these are avenues and boulevards, which are wide streets, smaller streets and alleys. I'll probably just repaint it all over the original shape with different pen colors...

Also, keep in mind that this is a city in the years just previous to industralisation of cities, so the factories actually are massive manufacturing places.
