Default *** January/February 2025 Challenge: New Year, Old Maps ***

Welcome to 2025! Your challenge this time is to take one of your older maps and remake it with the knowledge and skills you have now.
Maybe try a different twist on it or fix the things you wish you'd done differently the first time around

    Usual rules:
    1. Any map for this challenge cannot have been started before now
    2. Label your map thread like this: January/February 2025 Challenge: (your title here)
    3. Preface any work-in-progress pictures you post with the WIP tag button - it's in the toolbar on the second row down, towards the right. Or you can just type out ### Latest WIP ### Doing this allows the picture scraper to see your work and let the voters see it at the end of the month

The Challenge will run until the 1st of March (UTC).

    Good Luck!

Nice challenge idea. I assume this should be an entire re-do rather than a tune-up of an old map?

Yes, the general rule of "map must not have been started before the start of the challenge" does more or less still apply, with the obvious caveat of the original map being allowed to be older than that. I'd personally approach this with the original map functioning as the sketch sent to you by a commmissioner; a static image that you must trace and re-draw rather than a file you can access.

Sounds good. I think I have an idea for what map to use, which will be a redraw in a completely different style.

Interesting topic, but to partecipate, should the old map have been published in the past or we should dig into our secred folders?

Normally this challenge is about any of your old maps. So that you can reimagine it with all the new skills you have learned over the years.

Yes, the only real hard rule is to re-create an older map of yours. Doesn't matter if the original has been shared previously or not, I just think the majority of us who have been here for years have at this point shared a large amount of the maps we've created on the forums too.

We don't really enforce any hard rules on just how old the original map has to be either. I personally find it more interesting to tackle maps that have been done a good long while ago, just because (as XCali said) it's always great to see how much your style and skills have improved over the years. But if you really have an urge to re-do a map you completed last month, by all means, go ahead.

Feels like I'm doing this all the time . Sadly (and in a complete paradoxical way), I probably won't have the time to participate, but I'll surely follow.
