Map Three stages along river Baėra valley

    plateau_scan.jpg estuaire_scan.jpg ile_scan.jpg

Three stages along river Baėra valley :

    1) « at the plateau's east end... »
    2) « to the estuary and the sea... »
    3) « beyond... »

Hand drawn imaginary maps. Mix of different styles, including the 1/50.000 topographic map of France (type 1950) and some inventions.

I kindly requested my 6 years old to invent a name for the river, since I'm terrible at naming the places I imagine

Ink, water color, oil pastel and coloured pencil, 2024/25

I'm always impressed by your work and the way you take our eyes and minds on a journey. The experience of poetry through maps is a total success as far as I'm concerned! The choices you've made for the topography go a long way ... The “France” atmosphere of the 50's is very evocative and calls up many images and moods. Thank you and bravo!

Thank you JO, if, more and more my drawings tend to free themselves from any discursive intention, they hold in spite of themselves a nostalgic discourse on a geographical space of pseudo-French nature totally fantasized. I appreciate very much that you have captured the poetry, for me, it is assimilated in the case of this triptych to a melody without words.
