I think the border's fine, but it seems to me like the houses/buildings are a little cramped together.

The border's great, just add a bit of taupe to make it look like a canvas and it will look like it's sitting on an easel over in the corner of my room.

I like it. The map seems to have a natural feel. As to the layout I reckon the distance between the buildings is a very subjective thing. There may be many reasons why the buildings are grouped together.
