The technique can be applied in most apps tho.
i am using photoshop
Here ya go, enjoy. Here's what I did in Photoshop, not all that hard really (took about 5 minutes):
1. Copy the layer. Image - adjustments - desaturate (turns it into grayscale).
2. Image - adjustments - brightness/contrast (set both to 100).
3. Look for holes in the lines and plug them up with a 1-pixel pencil.
4. Fill landmasses with black.
5. Copy this layer then Filter - pixellate - crystallize = 6, then Filter - pixellate - crystallize = 3.
6. Image - adjustments - brightness/contrast (up the contrast to 100).
7. Select - color range = black with a fuzziness of 200.
8. Select - modify - contract = 2 pixels.
9. Create a new layer and fill with white.
10. Flatten image.

If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.
