Welcome to The Guild. Post up some works in progress (WIPs) so that you don't get too far along and realize that something needs tweaking that cannot be tweaked. Have fun and chime in as often as ya like.
At the beginning of this week I drew an outline of a map and scanned it into my computer since I'm always trying to justify having bought my scanner.
As I looked at the sketch, I wondered-- what can I do with this?
Next thing I knew, I had found this site and RobA's tutorial for Gimp, which gave me a great start. Now I'm working my way through the Climate Cookbook again, trying to get it to make sense. I'll probably be posting in the wip section soon to firm up locations for deserts, savanna(h), forests, etc.
I've been world-building since childhood, but this is the first time that I've really focused on the map. So, hello to everyone and thanks for the wonderful community and resource.
ETA: My work-in-progress thread.

If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.
