Hi Nomadic...have you taken a look at sticky on the mapping elements section of the forum?
I am in need of some brushes or cutout pictures of realistic trees from an overhead view. It doesn't have to be photoperfect but it does need to be photorealistic. If anyone has access to or knows where such things then I would be extremely grateful. I recall something like this being on here somewhere but I can't seem to find it.
Thanks

Yes I have. The trees are nice but none of them have the proper look. They are tending more towards the side of painting type maps. I recall some realistic looking trees either here or on the dundjinni forums but I can't find them. If I find them I'll post them here, if anyone else finds them and posts them here that would be awesome though.

cgtextures.com have put up some trees top down and they are tiling textures now too.

Dundjinni, too, has a marvelous supply of top-down maps.

In addition to Dundjinni, RPGMapShare has a large Flora section. I picked up a number of trees there.
Here is a tutorial I made on rendering your own trees using POV Tree, POVRay, and then a bit of image processing to add shading and depth.
