Things that I will do, that I am already aware of:
Change forest layout.
Add rocks and cliffs.
Smoothen many edges.
Better water texture and coastlines.
More details and buildings on top of the terraces.
This is the very first, not very complete, and very basic map of the city Redemption, a map made for an upcoming online roleplaying game where I am the head admin. It is the post-apocalyptic city, hundreds of years after a highly technological society died out and has recently begun to be repopulated by humans, now in a feudal society of medieval technology levels.
Hope you like it. It wasn't made for cartographings sake but rather just to give an overview of city areas, but I figured I'd post it here because .. why not? =)

Some updates.
Definitely works for me. Looking good so far!
I love the different colors in the city and those craters. My only gripe at the moment is that the city seems to be located on top of the forests sometimes. Especially to the south.

Gandwarf has fallen into shadow...
Aye. It's a layer thing, Im going to fix it. Was just a simple mistake when I rearranged layers =)
Other than that, thank you!
Interesting style, I like it.
Look forward to seeing this develop.

Love seeing new and unique styles, good job. Looks kind of Aztecy with the tiers...neat idea.
If the radiance of a thousand suns was to burst at once into the sky, that would be like the splendor of the Mighty One...I am become Death, the Shatterer of worlds.

It's inspired by Maya architecture as well as flooded cities like Venice.. and well. It developed very intuitively, I just started drawing. I had no plans to make it look like this, nor any real structured progress in how it developed, at all. So it was a very rare and strange project for me..
Here I added some more things - names, locations, more changes.
Here's the latest one, but since not much was done on the geography I figure I'd include the political factions layer. Many names, but since it's for a game it's necessary to have some of them on there.
I love the suggestion of detail that we can't see within the city. You have given us a great feeling for the layout of the city without tying yourself to a few hundred tiny buildings, while also ensuring the major features are obvious to the viewer. Nice job!
