Question Can I transfer what I learned from Fractal Mapper to help me learn CC3?

    Hi,

After FINALLY learning barely enough to get by in Fractal Mapper, I decided to spend the money and get myself CC3 and CD3.

Do I need to learn everything from scratch at this point, or will I be OK with the knowledge I currently have?

UI wise, yes, you will have to start from scratch. The "way" things are done are drastically different from what I remember (I have FM7 and 8 and used CC2 on a trial basis like 10 years ago.) Kind of like going from a PC to a Mac... they both have ways to start programs, change preferences, etc, but they have fundamentally different thought processes on how one would do that.

If I was forced to have both but use one or the other, I would probably stick with FM and use the png/bmp symbols from CC3 as much as possible. Another thing you might want to think about is checking out the NBOS forum and sign up for their mailing list. Ed (the developer of Fractal Mapper, ScreenMonkey, Inspiration Pad(which I HIGHLY suggest),etc) was working at work time on a FM <-> CC ventor symbol converter and if he can get that going, it would be a huge boon for people who own both packages.

Check out Joe Sweeney's Video Tutorials at Profantasy on using CC3 if you want to see it in action before you buy, and also to get up to speed using the software if you do:
