Those are some great map symbols.
Ciao from Italy!
I've prepared this Map in 2 steps (better 3)
- First I've researched and captured symbols at
http://www.jnul.huji.ac.il/dl/maps/pal/html/
I think that is the best site to have high res symbols
After with photoshop I've mixed all the stuff
- the analogical process to aging the map: after print I've put sheets in a box with hot water and coffee and dried on my balcony.
The last part is always the most funny
I've bough some watercolor pencils to give a colour touch to trees and roads, next time maybe...
I'm glad to read all your critics and comments!
thanks!
GRazie

And that's a great resource site.
The first map I opened had castles done in in a very fun way... http://www.jnul.huji.ac.il/dl/maps/p...l002368921.htm
Wow those map symbols are great and the site has a ton of stuff to go through i will be looking at it for weeks... would you be willing to post a couple of the symbols you extracted already or direct me/us to WHICH maps (or which section the site is Huge) you focused on or found the best symbols. I love them. I have always wished i could just hand draw them on that level alas with only a mouse I cant do it. That and I want to evolve beyond Wingdings or Symbols for towns...
Yeah, great map and great symbols. That website is also a great find...
Have some rep for posting your first map and of such nice quality as well

I love your method of making the paper look aged - you said that you did that after printing? Was there much trouble in preventing the lines from running?
oh god
your scale
it's turning me on
oh! thanks!
Ryan I think that are different way to approach aging paper
- If you have a Laser printer you can print and after put in the coffee water
- Ink printer could have problems because ink will vanish in contact with water, so could be a smart solution try to soak a dozen blank sheets, dry, clean coffee dirt on paper and after try to print on them!
I think that is the better solution even with laser printer
It's fun to prepare this things, no?
Thank you, Zoltar, I am thinking that I will definitely try your method upon completion of my works-in-progress. Oh, and have some rep!
