What's up with the tear in the carpet?
This is my first attempt at making a map and I was looking for some input/tips. This is the first floor of a long dead necromancer's tower that recently became reinhabited by a cult.

The blood from the altar drains through the whole and the grate under it (you can see a small bit of it) to the basement where I have some abomination a waitin.

I think it looks good so far, appears to be done in Dundjinni perhaps?
Anyway my only critique would be the lighting, it seems awfully bright for what appears to be just 2 candles?

Thanks for the kind words. It was done in Photoshop, which I guess speaks of my photoshop skills or lack there of. I agree that it is very bright for a dark room. I'm going to be using it for a VTT that adds more darkness to unlit areas and when the players bring their own light sources they'll have to be able to see. Although I might make it darker to post to here.

I think it looks darn good. The only things that I would suggest are maybe put a door and some steps outside the entry (decorative and optional), the grass is a bit repetitive so break that up with a layer of clouds set to overlay, or something to break it up like a path or some bushes (again decorative and optional), and lastly the stones should follow the curve of the building but you'll learn how to do that as you learn more. All in all, nice job, man. I'd certainly hate to walk into a tower and the first room is a sacrificial room. I will wait for the next floor and see what you do with that.

How did you do the lighting effect? I'm currently having problems achieve this effect on my own without some sort of tutorial.
P.S. You don't want it any darker than what it is now; otherwise, when you print it out all you'll get is a black muddy square. Everything always prints out darker than what it appears on the computer monitor.

In Photoshop I use the paintbrush tool... set it to one of the fuzzier medium sized brushes, set the color to black, drop the fill down to around 10 to 20% then go over the areas that you want to darken. Go over a few times till it's as dark as you want it. Sorry I'm horrid at describing things.
Ascension:Thanks for the advice! Any chance you could please point me in the direction of a tutorial on how to get the stones to follow the curve? I haven't been able to find one.
