    Wip Space database (from maps)

Some may remember I did a space map late last year which I entered into a contest here that was based off a large newsprint sized hand-drawn map. I've finally started getting into the programming side of the project and wheres what I have so far. I'm looking for input on what I may be missing or what you all might expect to see. I've used wikipedia, various edu sites and other places to see what would be handy.

The limit on data I can put in is only limited by how much I feel like entering by hand uing phpmyadmin.

The original map thread and info links are at:

My WIP space database using the data above:

"Most" of the details I do have are in Andromeda -> Milky Way -> Sol. Some of that data may seem familiar. A lot of other data is still missing however. There's still a few datasets I need to fix, but ill be fixing them on localhost before uploading the new database but its mostly functional right now.

    Comments, criticism, complaints?

Without having read your background material, I wonder what "Andromeda" means here. It can't be the constellation or the M31 galaxy.

Yes you are correct that its not a reference to a galaxy or constellation.

    The short version:
In my game, the universe is split up into many different sections called "superclusters". They are so far apart from each other that if you were magically teleported between them you wouldnt be able to see any light from any location (except for free rogue bodies). You would be able to detect it using a ships ultrasensitive instruments if your ship was so equipped, but that's rare.

"Andromeda" is the name of one of these "superstrings" in which most of my game/story takes place in. Clicking on Andromeda on the page I linked to will show a list of galaxies, star systems and planets.

Heres a link to earth for the lazy people who don't want to look around:

Here is a generic listing of all the superstrings, galaxies, star systems, & planets and where they belong that are currently in the database: http://www.2thextreme.org/modules.ph...G&file=Testing This is not a permanent link.

Oh man, I'm digging this. I wish I had more time to explore it all!
