Agreed... the map looks great, very artsy. The border does not fit unfortunately.

hehe, i got the point . Not sure if am breaking rules uploading new versions in the finished section ... The 'forrest' typo (thanks Rdanhenry) had to be removed anyway so I switched border as well. Got some border from the web. Not perfect but at least better fitting to the map. cheers
Looks a lot better I think...
Let's see what the others say
Once it's really finished I would edit your starting post, remove the old attachment en upload the final version.

I like the new border better, it seems to 'flow' better with the overall style of the map.

Have some rep my good sir! This is now my background on my desktop! Absolutely gorgeous!
Wow! That's beautifull! I love the style! I'm a bit new on cartography, so can I ask wich software have you used?
I hope some day be able to do something like that!
This is the link to my DA page. There's no maps yet, but some photos I would like to show to everyone. If you like one don't be shy and comment. Thank you!
thanks Janherbergh, the map was created using Photoshop (PS), which is a painting program (and can do loads more). PS is not cheap so you could also use Gimp which is a similar program but free. On the forums there's loads of tutorials, tips and tricks on how to use these programs to draw maps. cheers
If you want to buy PS and not spend too much money you can always try to do it as a student (depends on where you live probably, in Sweden its free to study at the university so here you can always apply to an evening course and then buy PS) or you can buy an older version on ebay. For painting maps I'd guess that all versions of CS Photoshop are equally good.
