    Map Zoelund

I created this map to test out a few techniques I'm looking to perfect, and to get myself back into practice. I borrowed a few names from Norway, as this is a somewhat northern and cold climate (as evidenced by the snow and frost, heh). The mountains were mostly created with a variation on the Pasis style, and further modified layer styles for the hills. Almost everything else is done with layer masks working together with styles. I didn't bother with smart layers on this one, it didn't really call for it this time around the font, if anyone is interested, is Thor (but i don't recall where I got it from, maybe dafont?). And it's confirmed - the graphics tablet is my friend!!

Sweet, as usual. Nothing to critique.

I really like it CM. I can't say I'm totally smitten with the mountains although the more I see of them, the less they bug me. I like the bold form of them, it's just that something is... wrong. I think the scale is off, more than anything else.

The texture of the land and forests is gorgeous and they work perfectly together. The ocean is interesting without detracting from the land. I can't wait until you are happy with the whole thing and post a tutorial on it.

    Wow!

You really have developed a signature style. I highly approve of it

I really like the palette, the hills, the forests... everything except the mountains. I know a lot of people use this style of mountain, some with greater success than others and I'm sure mountains do go off in spurs like that, a herringbone type pattern... but are they really that uniform in their... er... pointiness? Maybe if the spurs were broken up somewhat they'd sit better with me.
I guess it's just a matter of personal taste with that technique. I once tried Pasis' tutorial in creating mountains like that and I just couldn't do it to my satisfaction.
Personally, I think you can do them better.
