Wow ! that's a real nice temple you have here... and the 3D version is fabulous... It gave me the impression of looking at the basilique Sainte Sophie in Istanbul ! Very majestic !

I find that sketchup is a very good help to figure out volume and shadows, but as you say : you can drawn in it.... it's like giving life to your map, so it's tempting to make the whole map in 3D, but it takes so much time....

Nevertheless, I'm still dreaming to take the time to dive in Sketchup one of these days and make a whole illustration with it.... (castle ? village ? city ? region ?)

That temple is surely raising the profile of your section. It's beautiful on its own, and once painted and shaded, I'm sure it'll look beautiful on the map also.

But here's something I've been meaning to comment for a while on your whole section. There's a lot of pure black linework, which makes the larger picture look too dark/grey. Did you ever try changing the color a litle bit? A brownish or bluish tone could possibly work... If it's just me, forget about it, but I thought I should suggest anyway.

More like the Blue Mosque actually, but it was also inspired by Hagia Sophia since they are facing each other.

There's a lot of pure black linework
Are you referring to some parts in particular?
I'm asking because when I did the temple shape, I used a thinner line compared to most of the other buildings of the district. These black lines are too large but it's too late to change now.

Now, an update: can you find the Wally?
    All the shadows are done.
I still need to fiddle with the colours.
And add the other things every map needs.

all the shadows should be ok

    tall tower idea abandonned
    Cemetery details? shadows

    Things to do:

    Plants color variation ?
    harmonize colors
    Add a legend
    a proper scale
    compass
    title

Another update, unscrupulously inspired by Voolf and Sir Ink Man.
I started working on the aftermap, as I called my layers.
Trying to find a way to have easily readable numbers.

    great job, as always !
It's true, that the numbers are hard to find. Maybe a halo around them ? I know it often ruins the beauty of the map....

edit : Wally is well hidden, congratulations !

Looks great Azelor. I haven't found Wally yet. I guess I should get back to searching.

Makes me think I ought to get back to work on my own district...
