    Oh my god !!!!

The difference between the shaded parts and the rest is mind blowing! Especially when viewing the entire image.
I imagine it will take a lot of time to finish, but this district will really be a masterpiece !!!

Splendid work John! Especially all those lovely little alleyways and back lanes are getting even more character. I absolutely admire your eye for even the tiniest details. The small strip of light at the shadow of the gateway to the Zul relics for example, indicating by the shadow/light alone that it's an actual passageway. Just brilliant!
Can't wait to see it complete one day... but please take your time!

I drew inspiration from your map for my guild city map, but every time I look at this I realize I really can't imitate the master. Unbelievable.
You're a real pioneer in modern cartography.
    Thanks Josiah
I enjoy trying new stuff and wondering about in new map territory when I can.

Yes, it is a big difference JO... the shadow pretty much makes the image.

Here's an update for the day/weekend...
I did a decent amount over the last 2 or 3 days.
Getting closer toward completion, which is great.
I don't want to take a year to do this one.
Still, there's a lot more to do on here.

The most fun part is going to be the labeling for this one.
I have loads of fun stuff to put in here.

I can only echo what everyone else has said, amazing work as always. Can I ask what's the technique you use to make you're shadows so nice? Blend mode? Colour? Do you do these by hand?

Errrr, I have not posted anything in a while.
I have stuff to post... but I just sort of got behind.
well, the map is done [in a sense] but the work goes on.

I am about to post the finished version in Finished maps and then I'll pop back around here for more of an update on things.
