January 2018 Challenge: The Southern Lands of Thalak-Mul

I hesitate to post this update as I think it may do more to confuse people.
The colors scheme is not going to look like this in the end.
Sometimes I use a color scheme because it is visually easier for me to work through.
Then Later I make changes to it. I'm sure that's going to happen here.

Like Ilanthar, I am not sure if time will allow me to finish this by the deadline, but I 'll try.
I'm showing the wips at half size, but I may enlarge this and do more detail. Idk.

I got me one of them there big brains [har har har... as demonstrated by this fine humor] so there's plenty for all.
Not sure if you'd want that tasty bit in the back [cerebellum] or some of that fine grey frontal cortex.
But trust me, don't eat the amygdala. That bits not so tasty.

Part of me would like to leave this more like a Points of light map.
Then I could save myself some of the trouble in doing this thing.

It's gonna take some time, that's for sure.
I am imagining Diamond as this sort of zombie lord or necromancer waiting for his bit of brains on a tray.

Here's a bit of an update.
The layout has changed some.
And it's bigger.

I ended up not liking the angle I chose for the line direction.
It seemed like it would be interesting and different at first.
But, after a bit I realized it needed to change.
That required some reorienting and an increase in land to compensate.
Even without that, it was going to be hard to finish by the deadline.

But, i will keep plugging away at this, regardless.
I'm enjoying seeing all the variation everyone is doing.

Nice move ! It is a surprise, this unexpected point of view !
I like it but I have to admit that I still can’t say if the round is a border or the limit of this little planet ?

Anyway this new move is an amelioration, without question !
