Really good job till now. I'm waiting for the final version (or at least the more you can show to us). Lining all the blocks and buildings must have been a great challenge.

I'm working on color variation, main buildings are done, still need to do the landmarks.
Next time I have to focus on terrain

(bottom left you can se an example of shadow/highlight)

Great progress! I love how intricate the layout design is. It is easy to visualize the different districts and income levels of the various neighborhoods just at a glance.

At this point I see roofs everywhere, even when I close my eyes
I started the shadow/highlight part, still not sure about brightness and saturation, but I'll check it at the end with the client.

Big update! the main map is almost done, I still have to do trees and vegetation, ships and other minor details (waves, people, smoke, etc..)
this preview is resized by 1/3 the original map is more than 10k pixel (sometimes it lags like hell!)

this is a snapshot at real size, I'm trying to add people, what do you think?

The city design looks great Tom.
One question though. Is the water body coming into the city a river or an elaborate lake?
If it is a river, then it would be very odd it just "ends" in the city and does not have an outlet into the sea.

The water body is a lowland-marshland area, the river is redirected in to the moat around the city (work in progress)
